Should you drive the long routes yourself or take a driver?
Self-drive suits the north road: the highlands route to Lovina is well signed, the Bedugul charging stop is a natural sightseeing break, and the traffic thins once you leave the southern belt. The east coast rewards a driver more often — the final stretches into Amed and Sidemen are narrow, winding, and unlit at night, and a local at the wheel already knows where the Karangasem chargers sit.
There is no wrong answer, only a time budget. If you want the kilometres to be part of the holiday, drive. If you want to arrive fresh with the range plan handled, the with-driver rates above buy exactly that.
What does charging cost on a road trip?
Regulated and modest. Fast charging carries a service fee of Rp933.22 per kWh capped at Rp25,000 per session; ultra-fast runs Rp1,133.22 per kWh capped at Rp57,000; electricity at PLN stations is capped at Rp2,467 per kWh.
