How much is the Bali Mandara toll in 2027?
Rp14,000 for a standard car (Group I) — the tariff set on 27 April 2024 and still the published rate at the time of writing. Motorcycles pay Rp5,000. There is no separate class for electric vehicles: a rental EV pays the same Group I rate as any petrol car of similar size.
Where does the toll actually go?
Bali Mandara is a sea crossing serving the airport–Benoa–Nusa Dua corridor. From the arrivals side it feeds three practical directions, and skips everything else.

Is the toll worth Rp14,000 at rush hour?
Usually, yes. Bali’s congestion peaks run 08:00–10:00 and 16:00–19:00 daily, and southern travel times can rise 40–60 percent — on bad days toward double. The toll crossing bypasses a chunk of that surface grind on the Nusa Dua and Sanur runs for less than one US dollar.
Off-peak, the calculus flips. A late-evening or midday arrival moves freely on the surface route, and the Rp14,000 stays in your pocket without costing meaningful time.
How do you pay the toll in a rental EV?
Like Indonesia’s other toll roads, Bali Mandara is cashless: payment is a prepaid electronic toll card tapped at the gate. Confirm the card arrangement for your rental on WhatsApp when you book, so the gate is a tap on arrival day, not a puzzle with a queue behind you.
Does driving an EV change the toll cost?
No. Toll tariffs are set by vehicle class, not powertrain, so the electric saving sits elsewhere: fast charging carries a service fee of Rp933.22 per kWh with sessions capped at Rp25,000. A toll crossing plus a capped fast-charge session together still come in under Rp40,000 — small change against the day’s driving.
What does the toll leg look like from behind the wheel?
Short and unusually scenic: the causeway crosses the bay with mangroves on both sides, and the leg is only a few kilometres, so the range impact on your EV is negligible. Both marquee destinations on the far side are charging-friendly — ITDC Nusa Dua has a confirmed public station and ranks as the island’s most EV-ready enclave, while Sanur has confirmed charging with Denpasar’s dense network next door.
When should you skip the toll?
- West-coast arrivals: Seminyak (about 10 km, 20–40 min) and Canggu (18–20 km, 45–90 min) never touch the toll.
- Inland runs: Ubud sits 37–38 km and 60–105 minutes away on surface roads the whole way.
- The Bukit: Uluwatu and Pecatu, 22–23 km south, run on ordinary roads past Jimbaran.
- Off-peak Sanur or Denpasar: outside the rush windows the surface route is perfectly workable.
